  99.65% Pass Rate! 1,150 Substitute Service Draftees from the 258th Class Obtain EMT-1 Certification, Strengthening the Social Safety Net as Mobile First Responders

The 258th class of substitute service draftees underwent a five-day Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-1) Training, starting on August 23, 2024. Led by instructors from the fire departments of Taichung City, Changhua county, and Nantou county, the training combined practical exercises with academic coursework. The goal was to train these draftees to become certified EMTs, enhancing their foundational skills in first aid, self-rescue, and other emergency response techniques. 


 


Out of a total of 1,154 participants, including both the 258th class of substitute service draftees and the 122nd class of research and development substitute service draftees, 1,150 passed the exam and received their EMT-1 certification, achieving a pass rate of 99.65%. These draftees are expected to develop the necessary skills to assist themselves and others throughout their basic training. Upon entering social service roles, they will act as mobile first responders, reinforcing the social safety net and exemplifying the spirit of care and service that defines substitute service.
